Re-board is the original patented lightweight board for 2D and 3D constructions, developed in the 1990s by award-winning Swedish inventor Karl-Gustav Ericsson. The vision was to create a sustainable construction material with minimal environmental footprint.

Minimizing raw material usage
Maximum strength
Maximum weight reduction
Minimizing CO2 emissions during production
Although the raw material for Re-board comes from responsibly managed forests, it is essential to limit consumption – and thereby also logging. Re-board uses 80% less wood than an equivalent MDF or particle board. This means that 80% of the trees remain standing in the forest, where they provide the greatest benefit to both the atmosphere and groundwater. Forests play a vital role in protecting water quality, and the purest groundwater is found beneath them.
In the past, producing one ton of paper required 100,000 liters of water. At that time, chlorine was used for bleaching, which polluted the water and was toxic to animals and plants. Today, things are very different. Water now runs in a closed-loop system, where the paper mill cleans and reuses it repeatedly without polluting. At the same time, it was discovered that paper can be bleached without chlorine (ECF – Elemental Chlorine Free). The chemical process is the same used for hair bleaching at hairdressers. The technique is free of elemental chlorine gas, avoiding the formation of dioxins and dioxin-like compounds (carcinogens). Together, these developments have made today’s paper mills far less polluting.
THE RAW MATERIAL FOR THE PAPER COMES FROM RESPONSIBLE FORESTRY AND IS FSC® CERTIFIED
In an FSC-certified forest, no more trees are felled than the forest can reproduce. FSC certification ensures that animal and plant life are protected, and that the people working in the forest are trained, properly equipped, and fairly paid. Behind the FSC label lies a strict international control system. Wood within the FSC system can be traced all the way back to the forest area where it originates – no matter how many steps it passes through before reaching the store where it is sold.
Re-board® is produced at an FSC-certified paper mill in Sweden and distributed through FSC-certified partners.
The paper in a Re-board® lightweight board is of such high quality that it can be recycled 5 to 7 times in the paper industry. This makes it worthwhile to separate Re-board® from ordinary cardboard before sending it back to the industry. This is a focus area for us at PMH Systems, and we therefore offer all our Circular Service Partners the option to return cut-offs at a favorable rate.

According to the European Parliament’s website, transport accounts for almost 30% of the EU’s total CO2 emissions. Of this, 72% comes from road transport, with heavy and light trucks representing 38% (26 Aug. 2019).
A key factor determining how much CO2 is emitted during transport is weight. When weight is reduced, it either becomes possible to transport more goods per kilometer driven or to reduce CO2 emissions per kilometer with the same volume.
Re-board® is a strong yet lightweight paper-based construction material for 2D and 3D applications. It comes in various board types, thicknesses, colors, and sizes, along with an extensive range of construction accessories. The sustainable Re-board® can often replace more resource-heavy materials such as MDF, chipboard, or foamed PVC.
The patented core with vertical wood fibers set at a 15° angle, combined with carefully selected raw materials, makes Re-board® so strong that it can withstand a direct static load of up to 90 tons. In bending tests, it achieves stiffness that is 56% stronger than comparable boards.
Bending stiffness: The board is placed between two supports (330 mm cc), and force is applied until the board breaks.
